ORLANDO, Fla. – Dec. 5, 2017 – Command Investigations along with Packard Claims Administration and Lion Insurance Company announce the arrest of Don English for insurance fraud.
An investigation was launched into English following his reporting of an alleged work-related injury. Surveillance was initiated and English was documented driving and performing clean-up work following Hurricane Matthew. This included English working on his roof clearing debris, trimming branches and using a basketball hoop to precariously descend from the rooftop. A deposition was subsequently scheduled. During English’s sworn testimony, he made clear, repeated and definitive statements that he was unable to complete any physical tasks due to his work-related injury and denied doing such activities.
Based upon the surveillance results and the inconsistencies of English’s deposition, Command’s Special Investigative Unit (SIU) was statutorily required to refer this claim to the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF). This reporting resulted in English’s arrest on November 30, 2017 in Volusia Country, Florida.
He was charged with the following:
- F.S. 440.105(4)(B) – Workers’ Compensation Fraud less than $20,000
English was released after posting $2,500 bond.
All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
