August 4, 2017. Command Investigations and Frank Winston Crum Insurance announce the arrest of Tomas Matias for insurance fraud.
An investigation into Matias was initiated after he reported an alleged work-related injury.
Command’s Claims Data Verification Program™ (CDVP™) determined that Matias provided false and misleading information in an effort to obtain workers’ compensation benefits.
Furthermore, Matias provided a sworn statement affirming he fabricated such information in the furtherance of his claim.
Based on the information uncovered during the investigation, Command’s Special Investigative Unit (SIU) referred the claim to the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF), based on material misrepresentation, as statutorily required.
Matias was arrested on July 27, 2017 in Lee Country, Florida, and charged with the following:
- F.S. 440.105-4b9 – Use False ID for WC Claim Less Than $20,000
He was released after posting $5,000 bond. All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
