SIU Department Announces Two Convictions

Command’s SIU Department announces two (2) Convictions stemming from previous insurance fraud arrests.  These convictions are a result of the successful partnership between Lion Insurance, Packard Claims and Command Investigations.

On May 7, 2014, Juan Garcia was convicted on Insurance Fraud, violating F.S. 440.105, and entered a pre-trial diversion program and was ordered to pay restitution, attend anti-theft classes and perform community service.  Garcia was previously arrested on February 20, 2014.

On May 20, 2014, Franklin Gomez was convicted of Insurance Fraud, violating F.S. 440.105, and entered a plea of nolo-contendere and adjudication was withheld. Command’s SIU Department submitted these claims to the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF) as statutorily required.  These two referrals and the corresponding criminal investigations resulted in the arrest and conviction of each claimant for insurance fraud.

Working with the various State Attorney offices, Command’s Restitution Management Program™ monitors each criminal case and provides additional information during the judicial process.
