ORLANDO, Fla. – Nov. 13, 2017 – Command Investigations and PGCS Claims Services Inc. announce the arrest of Frank Martin for insurance fraud.
Martin suffered an alleged work-related injury while employed as a Firefighter/EMT. In a deposition and subsequent statements to both his employer and treating physician, Martin said that he was unable to work due to his mental and physical conditions. Further, Martin completed state DWC-19 forms and declared no secondary income or employment simultaneous to receiving his workers’ compensation benefits.
An investigation was initiated into Martin after receiving information that he may be employed as a boat captain. Surveillance subsequently documented Martin working for a dive and tour boat company, operating their vessels and assisting scuba divers. In addition, the surveillance video also documented Martin operating outside of his stated physical restrictions.
Based upon the facts of the investigation, Command’s Special Investigative Unit (SIU) was statutorily compelled to refer the claim to the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF). This reporting resulted in Martin’s arrest on October 24, 2017 in Citrus Country, Florida.
He was charged with the following:
- F.S. 440.105(4)(B) – Workers’ Compensation Fraud less than $20,000
Martin was released after posting $1,000 bond.
All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
