August 17, 2015. Command Investigations and Normandy Insurance Company announce the conviction of Maroun Aoun for premium insurance fraud.
Aoun was convicted of premium insurance fraud on August 10, 2015 and ordered to pay enforceable restitution in the amount of $11,075.00. He was also sentenced to 18 months of probation.
Command Investigations, who is Normandy Insurance Company’s contracted SIU Department, initiated an investigation on Maroun Aoun after he completed an application for workers’ compensation benefits, identifying the class code as 3030 with an $11.19 rate. Through Command’s surveillance, it was found that Aoun Enterprises’ was erecting steel buildings with more employees working and insured than stated by Aoun. Based on the class-code irregularity and misclassification, a referral was submitted to the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF) as statutorily required.
Consequently, Aoun was arrested, and on August 10, 2015, he was convicted and plead guilty to one count of F.S. 440.105 Workers Comp Fraud – Misrepresent or Conceal Payroll.
