March 23, 2015. Command Investigations, Packard Claims and Lion Insurance Company announce the conviction of Oscar Sanchez for insurance fraud.
Oscar Sanchez was convicted of insurance fraud on March 4, 2015 and ordered to pay enforceable restitution in the amount of $756.46. Sanchez was sentenced to two years of probation.
A referral was submitted to Florida’s Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF) as statutorily required based on the evidence collected during Command’s SSN Verification Program™. The evidence was submitted in conjunction with Sanchez’s utilization of a false Social Security Number issued to a deceased individual from California in an effort to gain employment and secure workers’ compensation benefits.
Consequently, DIF issued an arrest warrant, and on November 6, 2014, Oscar Sanchez was arrested in Indian River County, Florida, for one count of F.S. 440.105(4)(B)(9) – USE OF FALSE ID FOR A WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIM and two counts of F.S. 817.568(2) – FRAUDULENT USE OF PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION.
Ultimately, Sanchez was convicted and plead nolo-contendere for all three charges.
As part of Command’s Restitution Management Program™, close contact was maintained with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure that all victims’ rights are asserted, aggressively protected and maintained. This included the clear presentation of all supporting evidence to best support an enforceable restitution request in the amount of $33,867.00.
