June 10, 2015. Command Investigations announces the conviction of Nixon Arias.
Arias plead guilty to violating F.S. 817.568(8a) – USE POSSESS PERSONAL ID OF DECEASED on June 1, 2015 and was sentenced to 36 months of supervised probation.
Command Investigations’ SIU Department initiated an investigation on Nixon Arias after he was allegedly injured when he hit a rut driving a lawnmower on a jobsite. Command’s SSN Verification Program™ determined that the social security number utilized by Arias to gain workers’ compensation benefits was issued to a deceased individual in Mississippi between 1959 and 1960. A referral was submitted to Florida’s Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF) as statutorily required based on the evidence.
Consequently, on October 7, 2014, Arias was arrested in Escambia County, Florida and charged with multiple counts of insurance fraud. Ultimately, he plead guilty to violating F.S. 817.568(8a) – USE POSSESS PERSONAL ID OF DECEASED.
Throughout the criminal and sentencing process, Command’s Restitution Management Program™ maintained close contact with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure that all victims’ rights are asserted, aggressively protected and maintained.
