March 30, 2015. Command Investigations, Packard Claims and Lion Insurance Company announce the conviction of Abed Nego for insurance fraud.
Nego was convicted of insurance fraud on March 9, 2015 and was sentenced to two years of probation and 10 days jail work camp.
Command Investigations, serving as the SIU Department of Packard Claims and Lion Insurance Company, initiated an investigation on Abed Nego after he sustained an injury to his right index finger while cutting cinder blocks on a jobsite. A referral was submitted to the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF) as statutorily required based on the evidence collected during Command’s SSN Verification Program™. The evidence was submitted in conjunction with Nego’s utilization of a false Social Security Number issued to an individual in California in an effort to secure workers’ compensation benefits.
Consequently, DIF issued an arrest warrant, and on December 9, 2014, Abed Nego was arrested in Gadsden County, Florida, for one count of F.S. 440.105(4)(B)2 – Workers’ Compensation Fraud.
Ultimately, Nego was convicted and plead guilty of the charge.
As part of Command’s Restitution Management Program™, close contact was maintained with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure that all victims’ rights are asserted, aggressively protected and maintained.
