June 29, 2015. Command Investigations, SUNZ Insurance and North American Risk Services (NARS) announce the arrest of Alejandro Mena.
As SUNZ’s SIU Department, Command Investigations initiated an investigation on Alejandro Mena after he sustained an injury to his lower back while operating a tractor on a jobsite. During a claims investigation utilizing Command’s Claims Data Verification Program™, it was determined that Mena fraudulently utilized a social security number to gain employment and secure workers’ compensation benefits. The social security number provided had been issued to another individual in Florida in 1997.
Based on the investigation and evidence collected, Command’s SIU Department, working in conjunction SUNZ and NARS, submitted a referral to the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF) as statutorily required. After review, DIF issued an arrest warrant for Mena.
Consequently, on June 16, 2015, Alejandro Mena was arrested in Palm Beach County, Florida, for insurance fraud, violating F.S. 440.105(4)(9)(b) – Use False ID for WC Claim Less than 20K Dollars.
Mena was released on $3,000 bond. Mena’s trial is pending.
All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
