January 8, 2016. Command Investigations, Packard Claims and Lion Insurance Company announce the conviction of Carmen Gomez-Perez.
Carmen Gomez-Perez was convicted of insurance fraud on January 4, 2015 and ordered to pay enforceable restitution in the amount of $867.47.
A referral was submitted to Florida’s Division of Insurance Fraud (DIF) as part of Command’s SIU Investigation.
Supporting evidence identified during the SIU investigation included Gomez-Perez’s false utilization of a social security number to obtain employment and workers’ compensation benefits after sustaining injuries during a work-related accident. It was determined that the social security number provided by Gomez-Perez was issued to another individual in the state of California.
Subsequently, DIF issued an arrest warrant, and on October 17, 2014, in Pasco County, Florida, Carmen Gomez-Perez was arrested for workers’ compensation fraud, violating F.S. 440.105 4b9 – USE FALSE ID FOR WC CLAIM 100K DOLS OR MORE, F.S. 817.568 2
a – USE/POSS ID OF ANOTHER PERSON WO CONSENT and F.S. 817.234 1a – FALSE/FRAUDULENT INSURANCE CLAIM.
Ultimately, Gomez-Perez was convicted of F.S. 817.568 2a – USE/POSS ID OF ANOTHER PERSON WO CONSENT and F.S. 817.234 1a – FALSE/FRAUDULENT INSURANCE CLAIM.
